Every guide, plan, and gear pick on this site comes from one place: our own backyard in Carbon Cliff, Illinois, and the small flock of hens that runs it.
We're not a big farm. We're a handful of laying hens, a predator-tight coop, and a fridge that usually has a few dozen eggs in it. When we figure something out (the hard way, most of the time), we write it down here so your first flock goes smoother than ours did.
The girls
Franny, Red, Ruby Bridges, Pinky, Emilia, and friends. Every carton we sell and every photo on this site came from these hens.
Our little egg stand
The flock lays more than we can eat, so we sell the extra as nest-run eggs, $4 a dozen, pickup only, to neighbors around the Quad Cities. It's how The Cliff Coop started, and it's still the heart of the place.
If you're local, you can order eggs for pickup. If you're anywhere else, stick around: the guides, coop plans, and gear picks are all yours.
Welcome to the coop. 🥚
